The Inter-University Center for Korean Language Studies at SKKU (IUC) is an advanced Korean language training institution for academic researchers, graduate students, and prospective researchers in Korean Studies as well as related professionals.
The Campus for the Center is located within the SKKU humanities and social sciences campus (Seoul), and is jointly operated by SKKU and the executive committee of the Inter-university Consortium. A core group of North American, Latin American, and European Korean programs participate as member universities of the IUC at SKKU, with current co-chairs from UCLA and the University of British Columbia. Harvard University, University of Michigan, and Stanford University are currently committed to membership, while University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Georgetown University, Australian National University, Leiden University, SOAS, University of Sheffield, and in the process of negotiating membership.
The mission of the Center is to provide intensive high-level Korean language training (including instruction in sinographs, high-level sinographic vocabulary and hunmun (depending on learners' needs) essential for excellent academic performance in Korean Studies, and to promote the learners' ability to present research papers, access primary sources, and translate between Korean and their own languages. The Center also aims to contribute to active communication and networking among Korean Studies professionals and institutions at home and abroad.

성균관대학교 인터유니버시티센터(이후 센터, 혹은 IUC)는 전 세계 한국학 연구자 및 대학원생, 한국학 연구 지망생 그리고 한국 관련 전문가를 육성하기 위한 고급 학술 한국어 전문 교육 기관으로 설립되었다.
센터는 IUC 컨소시엄 산하 특별위원회와 성균관대학교가 공동으로 운영하며 성균관대학교 인문사회과학 캠퍼스(서울) 내에 설치한다. 현재 미국 UCLA와 캐나다 University of British Columbia가 공동의장으로 있으며 북미, 남미 및 유럽의 주요 한국학 및 동아시아학 대학/대학원들이 회원교로 참여하고 있다. 회원교이거나 교섭 중에 있는 대학으로는 UCLA, UBC, Harvard University, University of Michigan, Stanford University, University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago, Georgetown University, Australian National University, Leiden University, SOAS and University of Sheffield 등이 있다.
센터는 외국인이 한국어로 한국학 학술활동을 탁월하게 수행할 수 있도록 인문학 혹은 사회과학에서 사용되는 고급 학술 한국어(한자 교육 포함)를 교육한다. 전근대 한국을 연구하는 학습자의 경우 한문 교육도 제공한다. 한국학 1차 자료 및 한국어 연구 논저를 읽고 연구논문을 발표하는 능력 그리고 학습자의 모어와 한국어간 교차 번역 능력을 함양하는 데 목표를 둔다. 나아가 센터는 국내외의 한국학 연구자, 전문가, 기관들을 연결하고 상호 소통을 돕는 국제한국학의 허브로서 한국학 연구자들을 지원하고자 한다.
