- Students whose Korean language proficiency is TOPIK level four or higher or who have completed four years of post-secondary Korean language courses outside Korea.
- (aspiring) graduate students, researchers and professionals with a clear identity as(future) researchers in Korean Studies.
Purpose
- Intensive, individualized training in advanced academic Korean in a small group setting.
- Improvement of reading comprehension of primary sources and research materialsrelated to each student’s areas of study.
- Enhancement of communication abilities and presentation skills in academic Korean in order to facilitate academic exchange with Korean scholars.
- Improvement of translation skills between academic Korean and English.
Student Support Plan
Matching with Research Supervisors
- A SKKU professor whose field is closest to the student’s interest will be matched to each student to support their learning process.
Buddy Program
- Mentoring system with Korean graduate students will help the IUC students with local adjustment and help them to foster networking with researchers in Korea.
Dormitories
- SKKU International student dormitories are offered at a cost (while enrolled at the IUC).
- Students who wish to stay in the dormitories during vacations between semesters must make separate arrangements with SKKU.

- 한국어 능력 시험(TOPIK) 4급 이상의 학습자 또는 해외에서 한국어를 4년 이상 이수한 자
- 영어 이해력과 고도의 학술 능력을 가진 대학원생, 전문인력, 연구자
목적
- 소수(8인 이내)의 대학원생 및 연구자를 대상으로 고급 학술 한국어 능력 집중 함양
- 각 학습자의 전공에 기반한 연구 및 원본 자료 강독 능력 향상
- 국내 한국학 연구자들과의 학술적 교류를 위한 의사소통 능력 향상
- 고급 학술 한국어와 영어 간의 통번역 능력 향상
프로그램 적응을 위한 학생 지원 계획
관련 분야 지도교수 배정
- 학생의 연구 주제에 대한 실질적인 도움을 받을 수 있도록 학생의 관심사와 가장 일치하는 SKKU 내 교수 배정
버디(buddy) 프로그램
- 현지 적응 및 한국학 연구자들과의 네트워크 형성을 위해 한국 대학원생과의 1:1 혹은 다:다 멘토링 시스템 운영
기숙사
- 성균관대학교 국제 학생 기숙사 유상 제공(수강기간 해당)
- 방학기간 중 기숙사에 계속 머물고자 하는 학생은 성균관대학교와 거주기간 연장 협의 필요
